Meaning of Easter

Image
It is the Easter season once again.  Hard to believe it is only a couple days away.   Usually I am decorating with spring colors by now.  Thinking of Easter clothes or spring pictures.  Filling colorful eggs with chocolate and gummies.  This year my heart is heavy with the burdens of the world. So many people are struggling with cancer.  Mothers and Fathers will soon be saying their good-byes to their children and grandchildren.  It is so difficult to lose a parent, no matter how old we are.  Kent and I keep thinking about our Grandma as well.  She is in her 90's and fading faster it seems.  Last year, our aunt heard her talking to Jesus in her room.  She told Him that Easter would be a good time because, after all, You died for us.  (gave us the hint who she's talking too!)  Now, with Easter among us, we keep going back to that conversation.  We keep wondering if it will happen soon.  I saw her on my birthda...

Easter Thoughts

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives   in me. And the life I now live in the flesh  I live by faith in the Son of God, who  loved  me and  gave  himself for me."   ~  Galatians 2:20  I love the last part of that verse.  He loved me.  He gave himself for me.  Not just me ~ but you as well.  We were on his mind.  We are the reason that His angels did not swoop down and set him free.  We are the reason.  Is that not a bit mind boggling?   So, now because of Jesus, this world is not our home.  I know this world is not the end.  Just as He arose, so will we.  Suffering will vanish.  Tears will dry.  Our tired bodies will be put to rest.  And our spirits will be free.  What a gift we have been given!  Thank you, Lord, for loving me.  Through my ups and downs.  Through my mista...

Easter Sunday

Image
God's Forgivness Isn't it amazing? That's what I've been thinking about this Easter. We even spoke about it in Sunday school this morning. (amazing how God can plant the seed before we need it!) We mess up each day. Maybe with words ....or actions. Maybe even just thoughts that no one even knows about. Yet ~ God knows. He's there through it all. And not only does He continue to love us... He forgives us. He died on the cross for you and I. So we could be with Him together... forever! Our loving Father is standing there with His arms open wide. What a Blessed Easter Gift that each of us can have!

Easter Boxes

As a child, I remember my Aunt Avis. Really she was my grandmother's sister; my great-aunt, but I didn't know that at the time. I know I've mentioned her before, but I still think of her from time to time. She would send me birthday cards, Christmas cards, Thanksgiving cards, Easter cards. Even a small gift once in a while. It was so awesome to get something from the mailbox with my name on the envelope. When your a kid, it doesn't happen very much. As an adult, the stuff with your name on it ~ we usually don't want!! LOL I send off birthday cards. And, a few times ~ I send off some goodies for them! This is my Easter box this year. It's filled with some candy, sugar cookies, double chocolate chip cookies, and some butterscotch brownies. It's not much really. It's just the fact that when they get it and see their names on it ~ they will know that I was thinking of them. That I made the time to make them something and send it. I'm thinking that I shou...

It is spring time! And Easter is around the corner! I know that all of the wonderful parents out there make sure that the kids have an Easter basket filled with good stuff. (well, at least what kids call good stuff!! LOL) Peeps are a must, of course. Chocolate bunny perhaps? Maybe some spring colored jelly beans. I'm thinking that a basket filled with things us adults enjoy would be wonderful! So, I am giving away two Chocolate Lover's Easter Baskets ! Yes, you read that TWO . Because one is just not enough! :D No, no pictures of them yet because they will be filled with HOMEMADE goodies. I wouldn't want them to dry out so I'll be busy baking this week. Chocolate Chip cookies , of course. Brownies . Fudge . I make this yummy chocolate mousse . Brownie Biscotti . So, many things I could think of! Oh, I can't wait to get started.
